Super Secret Local Tips!
As I'm sure you know...Breckenridge is a tourist town. It's an awesome place to live and to visit...but there are certain things that can make your stay a bit better by knowing the ins and outs..especially when town is busy! We wanted our guests to have these little tips during their stay. However, to keep these secret tips helpful we need to keep them a secret! So shhhh...keep it to yourself and take advantage of knowing!

TIP 1: Take Back roads and alleys!: Our house is on the North end of town. This is AWESOME for coming in to town as you will avoid the traffic through town. However, if you ever want to drive to the south end of town, you'll want to avoid Main Street when town is super busy. If town is busy, we suggest the following...there is a back way where you can avoid town completely! This is great if you are trying to head South on Highway 9, whether it's for a hike/snowshoe or simply wanting to go to dinner on the south end of town. To do this, you will want to head South on Reiling Road. Turn right on Wellington Road. From here, you can go south on French Street. From here you can turn at any convenient place to get to Main Street, or you can take French until it hits Boreas Pass Road and make a right on Boreas Pass which will hit Main Street/Highway 9. Of course, please feel free to ask us if you'd like any clarification on this. :) (We suggest looking at a map to get oriented once you're here)

Tip 2: When to go to the Grocery Store! The grocery store can get CRAZY when town is busy!!!! Sometimes you don't have a choice...like at Christmas time...it's just plain busy...no avoiding it. However, during other times of year you can avoid large crowds by going early in the morning (The earlier the better!) or late at night...like 10-11pm. The busiest time is between 4pm-8pm...so avoid that time like the plague if you have a choice! Another tip is you can always stop for your groceries (your main grocery shop) on your way into town...so Frisco for example is sometimes less crowded than Breckenridge. No guarantees on this one, but it might be worth a try! Finally, Instacart does deliver here. We love using this service when town is busy and don't feel like going to the grocery store!

Tip 3: Download the Passport Parking App: Well...this one isn't super secret...but you will look much less like a tourist if you're not hovering over the parking machines trying to figure out how to use them! The Passport Parking app makes parking in town super duper easy....and you will even get notifications when your time is almost up. You can also extend parking time right from your phone. So definitely do this before parking anywhere in town. I swear you'll thank me for this one!

Tip 4: Wanna walk to town and take a shortcut?! We have an awesome shortcut from our house to town. (Best in the summer as it may be a bit sketchy in the winter time). Please be aware this short-cut does include a bit of a climb and single track. To take this short cut here is what you want to do. From our house, go down the stairs next to our house that will take you to Reiling Road. Cross Reiling Road and walk through the park across the street. Cross the bridge on the other side of the park. Once past this bridge you will see the French Creek Clubhouse to your right. Walk past the clubhouse and veer right. You will see a little trail to your left that will take you to Coyne Valley Road. Take that path and then cross Coyne Valley Road. You will see a trail on the other side of Coyne Valley Road. Take that trail all the way up (It will veer to the left). Eventually that trail will pop you out at Wellington Road. Tadah! Now you just have to make a right on Wellington which will take you to town. The shortcut sounds more complicated than it is, but we take it all the time! To come home look for the big green electrical box on Wellington Road and then take the trail down from there. Hopefully you'll remember the rest. :)
Okay! That's all I've got for now. As I think of other helpful hints I will definitely update this page!
